The First Clinic Laboratory

Located in Etoile Center at King Abdul Aziz Road – Jeddah, The First Clinic Laboratory is a state of the art laboratory that provides patient-friendly, high quality and reliable examinations. Operated by competent and highly qualified consultants and technologists, the laboratory works according to CLSI quality control standards, to ensure accurate results in all levels of services. The laboratory is equipped with fully calibrated modern machines that include COBAS INTEGRA 400 PLUS for Clinical Chemistry, VIDAS – BIOMERIEUX, ELECSYS e 411 for Serology and Immunology, Celltac G for Hematology, Liaison X for Hormones and Vitamin D from DiaSorin, and UriSed for Fully automated Urine analysis. Also the First Clinic Laboratory sent out tests through the International Medical Center (IMC) laboratory to external referral laboratories.

Pioneering levels

Other modern assets of the laboratory include the IMMUNOCAP machine, which is exclusively designed for allergy testing.
Currently, using College of American Pathology (CAP) standards, to add more pioneering levels of services to its already advanced services in Jeddah. All First Clinic Laboratory machines are approved by Saudi Food & Drug Authority (SFDA).

Our specialties

General Chemistry

The Clinical Chemistry Laboratory functions in performing qualitative and quantitative analyses of fluids such as blood, urine, spinal fluid and other body fluids.   The COBAS INTEGRA 400 PLUS, which is a fully-automated computerized Chemistry system, is the main machine of The First Clinic Laboratory.  This analyzer can perform 400 samples or tests in one-batch running.

One of the best machines which have been used in the laboratory is the ELECSYS e 411, which is an Immunoassay system designed for both quantitative and qualitative in vitro determinations, for Hormones profiling or testing.  This machine can perform 86 tests per hour by utilizing the Electrochemiluminescent method for sample analysis.

HAEMATOLOGY

This section functions for routine blood or blood cells counting and morphology, playing a major role in both the diagnosis and prognosis of disorders or diseases like Leukemia, Anemia.

The Celltac G, which is used in this Laboratory, is an automatic multi-parameter blood cell counter for in vitro diagnostic use.  This machine can process 60 samples per hour along with 19 different Hematological parameters.

IMMUNOLOGY & SEROLOGY

The branch of Science concerned with serum, especially with specific immune or lytic serum, to measure either antigens or antibodies in serum. For Example, virus infection elicits immune responses directed against one or more viral antigens. Both cellular and humoral immune responses usually develop, and measurement of either may be used to diagnose a virus infection by using (ELECSYS Cobas 411). Cellular immunity may be assessed by dermal hypersensitivity by using (IMMUNOCAP).

This section is tasked for the detection of antigen-antibody reactions produced by infectious diseases based on serological testing (Qualitative and Quantitative Assays).  The Laboratory uses three machines for both sections.  These are VIDAS-BIOMERIEUX, ELECSYS e411 and Liaison X by DiaSorin.

VIDAS-BIOMERIEUX is a compact automated multi-parametric immunoanalyzer utilizing the Enzyme-Linked Fluorescent Assay (ELFA) in analyzing samples. The IMMUNOCAP is developed to handle 100 tests per day using dedicated reagents with the latest technology of the Fluorescent assay system. This is a fully automated instrument designed exclusively for specific allergen testing. The ELECSYS e 411 is a random and continuous access immunoassay analyzer capable of processing tests using technologies such as Microparticle Enzyme Immunoassay (MEIA), Fluorescence Polarization Immunoassay (FPIA), and Radiative Energy Attenuation.

MICROBIOLOGY

The Clinical Microbiology Laboratory is concerned mainly for bacteriologic identification and isolation of parasites and species causing diseases.  Different body fluids including sputum, urine and stool are analyzed in this section.  Culture and Sensitivity testing, which plays a vital role in determining bacterial isolates and susceptibility against antibiotics,  is one of the most rapid tools used by physicians in the treatment of specific infections or diseases.
